This article about a recreation of the rescue of a group of Jewish children from the Nazi…with the 100 year old rescuer greeting the 70 year old ex-children…brought tears to my eyes.

I’m sharing think in case others might enjoy it.

  1. Evil

There are many who believe that evil must prevail because they see the loud and subtle works of evil in the world.

Yet evil has not prevailed because of the quiet and quotidian good that operates every day.

Sometimes the good needs to be less quiet and more firm in its purpose as it was here or as with Maximilian Kolbe.

  2. For those who find that article interesting, you may also want to google “Irena Sendler”. Next month I’m going to a premiere of the documentary about her (“In the name of their Mothers”) sponsored by the local Kosciuszko Foundation chapter.

Given the monstrous evil of that time, it’s important to know that people strove to do good, even in the belly of the beast.

    • There were many such good people. My mom had a friend who helped Jews escape from Poland. Finally, she learned they were going to put her son in the army. She prayed and she and her son drove right by the guards and were never stopped.

She moved to England and lived there for the rest of her life.
