The Princess Turns Sixteen

The morning of the Princess’s Sixteenth birthday,  I drove her to school with a plate of cupcakes she had requested. Then, I picked up the two girls–the Princess and the Lady-In-Waiting–because they called and said they could not find their bus. LOL

Then, a teacher came by with a huge supply of clothes for Ling Shan, toiletries, a $100 gift card to Target, cash, and a cake for Ping-Ping. Both girls tried on the clothes–some of which even fit–and had a wonderful time!

There was a funny moment among this sorting of clothing and goodies. Ping-Ping opened a little purse and said “Oooo!” Ling Shan and I leaned over and saw that she was holding several bright colors of nail polish. All three of us ah’d with girlish delight…even me. Then, we checked with each other and found out that none of us wore or liked nail polish. LOL. We picked friends of Ping-Ping’s who would like it to share  it with.

Instead of a party, she wanted to shop at the mall with her friends. So, we picked up Spanish-speaking Claudia and her two twin eight-year-old brothers and went to Target–where Ling Shan bought some clothes, a shirt for me and a few little things for Ping-Ping with her gift certificate–and to the mall.
We had Chinese food at our favorite Chinese restaurant that actually tastes a bit Chinese. Then we shopped. Ping-Ping picked a few things out…some earrings, a CD, a hat and scarf, with help from her two friends, while I hung out with the twins, Farid and Miguel, who were just delightful.

Then we all came home and shared the cake the teacher brought.

It was a really delightful day!
