Thank God!

I cannot tell you with what joy I read that Fran Lyon fled England last fall and is now living in hiding somewhere…with her baby (Molly Linda Anna Lyons, born on a Sunday in January!)

Thank you, God!  I have been praying and praying for this young women whom the English government turned on and decided to deprive of her child merely because a doctor who had not met her decided that her mistreatment at 16 might lead her , now 22, to mistreat her own child.

Another site claims that the original decision has not been overturned…I hope Fran and Molly can go home.

May God protect her and guide both of them, wherever they may be now.

  1. Have you noticed that, in the last decade or so, British jurisprudence has gone absolutely insane? Cowardly, when dealing with people they fear might riot; and utterly oppressive, in dealing with those they deem powerless? This is really sad, given the British role in giving birth to the modern concept of justice under the law.

  3. I hadn’t heard of this case – all I can think is wow! It reminds me of your husband’s recent ‘news from a world gone mad’ post.

It’s ironic – and very sad – that by driving her away from the support of her psychiatrist and/or friends, social services has taken away a support that helps prevent the very mistreatment they feared.

  4. Which makes me think of the situation in Texas

Yes, it may be overall in the children’s best interest for them to be taken into custody–but what sadness!
They will not understand for years if then.
If underage coerced marriage is considered child abuse then logically any young girl in the poorer parts of Africa/India/etc. could claim sanctuary here.

  7. Do you have a link to news more recent than last year? The pages I found seemed to refer to last year’s news, and not anything known since the child was born.

    • I could not find anything more recent than a blog by someone who knew Fran that reported the birth of the baby. Apparently, she’s living elsewhere and raising her baby and not in the news.

  10. Thank you, God!

It disgusts me that folks bring up a case like this– obvious abuse of the mother, barely physically able to reproduce– when they talk about the child-rape in Texas.

I am so very, very happy that the lady has her baby and got away!
