Apparently, the new Doctor Who is some guy from the British stage. Here’s a link about it.

I SO wanted to see Paterson Joseph get the nod. I’ll give the new guy a chance, of course, but I’m still grieving.

I had a hope that as a darkhorse, Jon Pertwee’s son Sean might have gotten the nod instead, too.
I don’t know this new guy at all. The adjective everyone seems to be keying on is that he’s young–younger even than Peter Davison.
The other thing mentioned about him is that he’s a stage actor. Stage actors are sometimes better actors than those who just appear before a camera…so I’m hopeful, even if I’m not overjoyed.
Peter Davison was only 3 years older (29) when he stepped into the Tardis and he was a marvelous Doctor! It’s not a huge difference in age. Most of the Doctors were in their 40’s or older (the first was 55) when they began, so it is not a bad thing to have him younger for a change.
And this fellow does have an odd face, not a handsome one. Hopefully, he’ll do well.
Steve Moffat, the excellent writer of BLINK and the episode with the child in the gas mask (I never remember the name of it because it sooo creeped me out) who is now head writer is very excited about writing for this new Doctor, so I’ll give him a chance. A writer of such great episodes who is excited about the actor just may fill the series with more than a DR Who that fancies and snogs his sidekick and cries every third episode.
To be fair, I know that Moffat didn’t write the cry-and-snog episodes. I just hope we’ll get more odd TimeLord adventure and excitement and less sensitive-hormonal-man sorts of writing now.
