I notice that, nowadays, my first encounter with a news story is often on my Friends List. It’s quite nice to have both Liberal and Conservative friend’s posting stories, leads to all sorts of perspectives I would otherwise have missed.
Though…sometimes, it does make me laugh. ;-)
I enjoy and can accept well reasoned POVs different than my own. (Your husband, for example–and really, on a number of things, we aren’t that far apart after all)
As you might imagine, the things on your blog are quite different from those on John…but I enjoy the contrast. I think it is important to understand why people feel the way they do, even if you don’t agree with them.
For one thing, if you did want to talk someone into changing his opinion, you could not do it unless you understood that opinion to begin with.
