“But that’s hard. I can’t do that!”

Juss, upon being told that he should keep his temper, tried to explain why he had lost it. He wanted to recount the terrible offense Orville had committed in stealing his lego Jedi guy in the video game.

When we explained that he should keep his temper, even though Orville was wrong, he exclaimed, outraged:

"But that’s hard!" and "I don’t think I can do that!"

Oh…it made me laugh.

We then went on to ask him if he thought Mommy should try to keep her temper, even when she gets angry, or if he thought Mommy should get angry more…I think this got the point across, though he was reluctant to commit to an answer.

  1. The Mighty Mite has expressed similar sentiments, in much the same language!

One rule we have (rather sternly applied at times) is “don’t say anything when you’re really mad.” You’ll say something you’ll be really sorry for later, and you’ll never be able to make those hard words go away.

And yes, it applies to Mommy and Daddy, too :-)

  2. I just keep on about one particular fruit of the spirit…self-control. It’s eventually taking hold.

For the young lady, not the lad. The lad has it down pretty well.
